Riverdale: 8 Biggest Questions We Have For Season 4

1. Is Jughead Really Dead?

Riverdale Season 3 Veronica Betty Archie
The CW

The closing moments of the Season 3 finale left viewers stunned, as Archie, Betty and Veronica all stood around a campfire, covered in blood as they vowed never to speak of what went down ever again. Naturally, the absence of Jughead (and the presence of his blood-soaked beanie) has fans concerned about the teenage sleuth's safety - with many of them worried that his death may be this season's big mystery.

Now, it's worth noting that the scene itself was a flash-forward and doesn't take place until Spring Break, and as each season of Riverdale tends to be storylined around a full school year, we shouldn't expect to reach this point of the narrative until the midseason finale. Thus, Jughead (and Cole Sprouse) will still be a part of the show for the majority of the season. The only question is: Will death await him at the end of it?

It's hard to say. Nothing is ever what it seems on Riverdale, with the vast majority of twists being nothing more than a stylistic way of prolonging the narrative that rarely amounts to anything other than what it was designed to do. With that in mind, the likely answer is that Jughead is still alive (would they really kill off their most popular character?). That being said, it's going to be a long year waiting for those answers.
