5. Fernando Torres (Liverpool-Chelsea)

Talking of Fernando Torres, his aforementioned move to Chelsea was another shocker that made the last day of the 2011 transfer window so memorable.
£50 million is a huge price to pay for anybody but its not the transfer fee that was so shocking about this move. It was Torres betrayal of Liverpool. Arriving from Athletico Madrid in 2007 Torres had been adopted by the Kop faithful and having scored 65 goals in 65 goals in 102 appearances it looked as though he was going to go on and write his name in the history books at Anfield. Unfortunately for The Koppites this was just not to be. Money talks in football and his last days move to rivals Chelsea caused uproar amongst the Liverpool ranks. The internet was full of images of Torres shirts being burnt by fans outside the stadium and even in their own back gardens. Liverpool got the last laugh though as Torres first game for Chelsea was a 2-1 defeat at their hands.
