10 Footballers Who Got Kicked Out Of The Dressing Room
1. Joey Barton
When it comes to polarising figures in football, few have divided fan opinion quite as much as one-time England international Joey Barton, ever since he made his professional debut back in 2002.
Though much of Barton's notoriety comes from his incidents outside of football, including spending time in prison for assault in 2008, he has also shown a knack for ostracising himself from his teammates throughout his career thanks to his propensity for violence and outspoken nature.
During his time at the Citizens, Barton had to be cautioned by then-manager Stuart Pearce after he criticised the club's performances in the media, and questioned the club's transfer business, claiming that some of his colleagues were "substandard", no doubt doing little to make himself popular in the dressing room.
However, Barton's career in Manchester would ultimately come to a shameful end after he assaulted his teammate Ousmane Dabo during training, leaving the midfielder with a detached retina. Barton would leave the club a month later, citing a breakdown in his relationship with his manager as the reason for his departure.
