Although originally billed as the ultimate technical striker vs. the power-puncher fight, what fans actually received was a tactical, back-and-forth chess game of a match. Both men had their moments in the fight, with Hearns using his stiff jab to sting Leonard while Leonard used his superior footwork to create the angles needed to land his own devastating strikes. After fourteen rounds of action, Hearns was up on the scorecards and on his way to obtaining the WBC and WBA welterweight titles, however Leonard's brutal strikes caught up with him and a final flurry sealed the deal in one of the most captivating fights of all time.
