The Romanian striker was purchased from RCD Espanyol after scoring the only goal for Romania in Euro '96; not really the resume you would base a signing entirely upon. He managed only 12 appearances and 2 goals in his short-lived career with the Hammers, which included being openly criticised by Harry Redknapp for going shopping with his girlfriend instead of travelling north to a league cup replay at Stockport; a replay we went on to lose. Hammers fans everywhere would be forgiven for forgetting him.
