Going forward, Sacramento Republic have big ambitions - beginning with joining Major League Soccer. Despite being in what is considered "Division III" of the US soccer pyramid, the Republic's president Warren Smith believes there is enough demand in the city for an MLS franchise alongside David Beckham's Miami side. In addition, Smith wants to build an 18,000-seat football-specific stadium in Downtown Sacramento, moving the club away from Bonney Field.
