14 Biggest Premier League Transfer Mistakes Of Summer So Far

14. David Luiz - Chelsea To PSG

Chelsea laughed themselves all the way to the bank earlier this summer after selling Brazilian hot-head David Luiz to Paris Saint-Germain in a deal that could climb to £50 million. That's a world transfer record for a defender and PSG fans must have been crying themselves to sleep after watching their new signing in action at the World Cup. Luiz was absolutely all over the place at the back as Brazil were slaughtered 7-1 by Germany and unceremoniously booted out of the World Cup they were hosting, leaving a nation, and Luiz, in floods of tears. The Brazilian is prone to abandoning his defensive duties in favour of bombing forward in attack and though this reaps goals it leaves his team looking highly susceptible - one of the reasons why Chelsea got rid. PSG paid far, far too much for Luiz this summer - especially given the fact they are currently under investigation from Uefa for breeching Financial Fair Play Rules - and they could be left to count the cost of their profligacy in the transfer window this season.
