14 Biggest Premier League Transfer Mistakes Of Summer So Far
10. Patrice Evra - Man Utd To Juventus
Manchester United handed veteran defender Patrice Evra a new, one year contract back in May but the Frenchman shockingly left the club earlier this summer to join Juventus. The move sparked a complete turn-around with Evra previously happy to stay at Old Trafford for another 12 months prior to the Italian's interest. Having already sold Alexander Buttner to Dynamo Moscow, sanctioning Evra's sale as well could be a bad move from United. They now have only one recognised left-back at the club in teenager Luke Shaw, who at 19 is still a bit green. Shaw could have benefited from learning under Evra during his debut season at the Theatre of Dreams but the departure of the veteran defender has now heaped pressure on the youngster's shoulders to hit the ground running. New Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal has a distinct lack of defensive options now that Evra has gone and should Shaw sustain injury or get suspended at any point in the season the Dutchman will struggle to find cover on the left hand side of his defence. It's a perplexing decision and unless United sign cover for Shaw they could be in real trouble.
