4. Loic Remy

Club: QPR Only a matter of weeks ago, it looked like Remy's move to Arsenal was a done deal. The plan for the striker would be to head out to the World Cup, score a few goals and cement his growing profile, and then sign for an upwardly mobile Champions League side who could immediately fulfil his and his advisers' ambitions for playing (and being paid) at the top level of European football. Unfortunately for Remy, so far that hasn't materialised and Arsenal cannot agree personal terms with the striker, who no doubt wants assurances of his first team status as well as an impressive contract to reflect his value to the team. This is the man, remember, who managed 14 goals in 24 starts last term, amidst injuries and in an occasionally abject Newcastle team, and with the right service from midfield, he could be a 30 goal a season striker. Clearly Arsenal don't yet value him as highly, and the news has apparently pushed Newcastle into reinvigorated action, armed with the knowledge that they will willingly pay not only QPR's asking price (apparently £8m) but also give Remy what he wants in contract terms, and in the central attacking berth he craves. Time will tell on this one, and it really depends on Remy's willingness to move away from the capital, but he already knows how adored he would be at St. James' Park.
