6 Ups & 4 Downs From Premier League 2019/20 Week 2

1. Man City Aren't Top (Yet)

Put the pitchforks away, City fans. This isn't some bitter rant about your team's lofty status from someone who hates them. No, it's simply an impartial take on how much more exciting the Premier League will be the longer other teams can keep Pep Guardiola's champions from assuming control.

As things stand, City are two points behind Liverpool and Arsenal in third place. They sit on four points alongside Man Utd and five other sides, including Spurs, Everton and newcomers Sheffield United. Obviously, that'll change over time. Brighton, for example, have a job on their hands if they want to continually float near the fifth position they're occupying, and nobody expects Bournemouth's early success to last.

City will inevitably be first or second this year. That's how good Pep's Citizens are.

Amidst all the drama of VAR, late goals being ruled out and talk of Spurs mounting a serious title challenge this year, it must be said that City controlled most of the 2-2 game. They're a Premier League powerhouse these days, but dropped points at home are dropped points. City aren't top going into week three, and that may give everyone else hope that they can vie for Guardiola's crown.
