Arsenal Transfers: 3 January Reinforcements For Gunners Forward Line

1. Saido Berahino

Burundi-born England Under-21 international Berahino has burst on the scene for West Bromwich Albion this term by giving Baggies fans real excitement. Arsenal have first-hand experience of what this forward can do as he scored against them in a League Cup encounter. Berahino has risen to the occasion in big games against the Gunners and Manchester United, leading to speculation he could yet force his way into the senior England setup. Six goals for the Under-21s in four games is a sign of his progress. Dangerous through the middle or operating from either flank, Berahino would add precocious youth into the Arsenal mix. Wenger has been alerted to him by reports in the Daily Mirror which claim contract talks with Albion have stalled. As he is just 20 years old Berahino could see any potential transfer fee set by a tribunal €“ and that body seldom awards big money pay-outs to the club losing an academy graduate. Chelsea too are tracking him, so the Gunners would face a battle with their London rivals to land this rising star of English football. It all rather depends if Wenger believes the hype about Berahino. Like all youngsters it's about consistency and when he does that for club as well as country then there may be more substance to the rumours. Who would you like to see sign for Arsenal in January?
