Desperate Siem De Jong Issues 'Come And Get Me Plea' To Newcastle

Let's just hope he's a better player than his brother.

It was just a few weeks ago that De Jong complimented United in the Dutch press, labelling us a €œgreat club€, and revealed that he had been in "contact" with the powers that be at St James' Park over a possible move. And in a lengthy interview published in the Shields Gazette his agent, Louis Laros, revealed the Ajax captain is keen to leave the Dutch champions, saying: €œSiem is interested (in a transfer), but there needs to be an agreement between the buying club and Ajax, and it needs to be the right club for Siem." He also stated "There was an agreement last year when he signed the new contract that Ajax would sell him this summer" which significantly improves our chances of landing the Holland international. It's understood, however, that De Jong is seeking an immediate move so that Ajax will receive a transfer fee instead of losing him for nothing when his contract expires next year. A small cross for Mike Ashley to bear in order to land a player of his supreme calibre. It even seems that De Jong is willing to sign for United in spite our decision not to retain the services of younger brother Luuk following an abject six-month loan on Tyneside. Quite frankly we'd rather endure root canal surgery than see Luuk in a black and white shirt again but, if worse came to worse, we'd certainly petition Newcastle to take him back in order to facilitate the capture of his sibling.
