2. Joey Barton
One thing that will certainly be missing from Everton's midfield should Fellaini go is a bit of bite and passion. Well known for his disciplinary record and accruing many yellow cards during a season that leave the Toffees lagging in some games, where Fellaini, if playing, would have possibly motivated them to get a positive result. Certainly, Joey Barton is a man with a lot of these attributes outlined above and sometimes does go over the top on certain occasions both on and off the pitch which invariably leads to sanctions being imposed. Earlier this summer on
his Twitter account, he boldly exclaimed that "he will not be playing in the Championship next season" as while he was playing in the French Riviera on loan at Marseille, QPR fell through the Premier League trapdoor. So, we all think that he may stay at Marseille or move to a Premier League team before the Football League season starts... nope, he plays against Sheffield Wednesday on the opening day of the R's season and then starts against Huddersfield the following week. Despite this confusing U-turn on his statement, he is still wanted by clubs in the top division notably Everton, who prepare willing to move for the 30-year old, whose talent gets often overshadowed by his petulance. The question is, can Everton handle the considerable baggage that comes with him?
