Every Premier League Man Utd No.7 Ranked Worst To Best
1. Cristiano Ronaldo
Beckham may well be more famous, but Cristiano Ronaldo is the very best Manchester United No.7. He may even be the best player the club, or even the world, has ever seen.
In converse to Beckham, Ronaldo didn't want the iconic shirt when he first moved to England, instead requesting the No.28 he had worn at Sporting, but Sir Alex and the rest of the United squad knew the young Portuguese was special and insisted upon it.
Ronaldo would go on to score 118 goals, win three Premier Leagues, three domestic cups and the Champions League in 2008. He was simply brilliant, capable of playing across the forward line and scoring some of the best free-kicks the sport has ever seen. He set impossibly high standards in England, which no United player and especially no No.7, has been able to match. While Ferguson's retirement is often cited as the start of United's decline, the team really began struggling following his departure in 2009 for a then-world record fee.
When one thinks of the number seven in football, they think of Ronaldo. Even his nickname and brand, CR7, reflects his unbreakable association with the number.
The seven shirt has since followed him to Real Madrid and now Juventus where at the age of 35, he's still going strong. Is he the GOAT? Maybe. The greatest Manchester United No.7? Almost certainly.
