Fantasy Premier League Tips: Best Bargain Buys And Flailing Flops

Midfielders

In the engine room, there are no stand-out bargains when scrolling down through the list of highest scorers and lowest prices. The two most notable however are Swansea City midfielder Pablo Hernandez and Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure. Between the two they have accumulated an immense 43 points and for a combined price of £14.9 million- the two are well worth the money. However, the midfield has basically been flop central. Various players who started the season full of promise have not delivered and 3 in particular have let a total of 150,000 managers down enough to warrant a transfer. £9.9 million Santi Cazorla, £9.3 million Eden Hazard and £9 million Phillippe Coutinho have accumulated between them just 28 points from their 3 matches- 1 less than star goalkeeper Simon Mignolet managed to total by himself. If you're looking to do well this season, at the moment, these three are best avoided. Another midfielder that you'd be better off avoiding right now is Juan Mata- The Spaniard isn't one of Jose Mourinho's favourite people right now and at £9.9 million having only amassed 2 points so far he probably isn't the favourite amongst you managers either. @mcfc_alex (who's team '2 Goals 1 Cup' currently sit at the top of every classic league they have entered) has pinpointed Juan Mata as the flop of the season so far: "I had Juan Mata as my captain initially and he got me a mere 2 points, what's most annoying is he hasn't even played 90 minutes yet"
