Man Utd: 10 Stats That Prove Moyes Is Getting It All Wrong

9. Why Was Fellaini Signed?

In his last 18 Premier League appearances (10 for old club Everton and 8 for United) big money signing Marouane Fellaini has not been involved in a single goal. That means he hasn't scored OR provided an assist in his last 18 league games, which is remarkably poor for a player supposedly famed for his value from midfield. So far this season for United, Patrice Evra has scored and provided an assist, Chris Smalling and Tom Cleverley have both scored and Wayne Rooney (who cost just £3 million more than Fellaini in 2006) has 9 goals and 9 assists in his last 17 league games. A more damning statistic for Moyes however, is that the two Everton players he probably should have signed - Seamus Coleman and Leighton Baines - have 8 goals between them already for Moyes' former club already this season. If it wasn't for players like Andy Carroll and Fernando Torres, Fellaini might just be the biggest waste of money in recent Premier League history, but there's time yet.
