Man Utd: 5 Great Red Devils' Careers Cut Short By Injury

1. Louis Saha

Louis Saha Some may be surprised to see Louis Saha at the top of this list ahead of the likes of Owen and Hargreaves, but the French international was €“ in my opinion €“ the biggest loss in the striking department for Man Utd in recent years. His influence, especially after ousting Ruud Van Nistlerooy from the starting number 9 spot, on the United team was fantastic. He could lead the line as well as anyone in the league, he had a great knack for scoring goals and he formed a great partnership with a young Wayne Rooney. His qualities which he brought to the team would cost a modern-day team a minimum of 20-25 million pounds. He could be compared to a mix between Javier Hernandez with his pace and his eye for goal, and Danny Welbeck€™s work ethic and good ball skills. He was a player that was always going to be capable of scoring 25+ goals in a season, but sadly for Man Utd and EPL fans alike his injury situation was never going to allow that to happen. In the post-Van Nistlerooy era, life started brightly for Saha and he was injury-free for half a season and he formed a lethal partnership with Rooney whilst scoring around 13 goals himself. Then his injury jinx started again, and spoiled the rest of his time at Old Trafford which eventually led to his move to Everton.
