Newcastle 0-2 Man City - 5 Things We Learned

1. Be Cool Alan!

Alan Pardew was incandescent with rage on the touch line when he realised that Tiote's goal had been ruled out. A heated exchange with Manuel Pellegrini followed, with Pardew appearing to launch into a foul-mouthed tirade at the ice-cool Chilean. The Newcastle boss admitted in his post match press conference that his actions were somewhat uncalled for and offered an apology to his opposite number. However, there is no doubt that Pardew lost a small piece of managerial street cred today. His rant did not appear to ruffle the feather's of Pellegrini but the Newcastle manager's outrage reflected the pressure he is feeling, after all his side were on a three game losing streak coming into today's game. Instead of trying to get a rise out of opposing managers, Pardew should concentrate on the job in hand and set an example for his players to follow. In the minutes that followed Tiote's goal that never was, Sissoko was booked for kicking the ball away in frustration. Pardew was in no position to complain to his player.
