Newcastle: Ranking All Number 9’s From Premier League Era
3. Andy Cole
A player whose goal return for Newcastle broke records and smashed expectation, Andy Cole led the Newcastle line in their maiden Premier League year (the second of its existence) in the 1993/94 season and his goal return of 34 in 41 appearances saw them finish 3rd overall. The Keegan/Cole era saw the club nicknamed the Entertainers for their brand of score more than you football and under King Kevs management Andy Cole was transformed from a lower-league prospect to the man who would become Man Utd and Englands number 9. Andy Coles career highlight was his partnership with Dwight Yorke that saw the Red Devils win the Treble - but it was his partnership with Geordie Peter Beardsley with the Toon Army that saw him rise to become a top talent.
