Newcastle Transfers: 5 Signings Magpies Need For Top 6 Finish

1. Giannelli Imbula

Giannelli Imbula is a bit of a wildcard in this list because it€™s highly likely that Newcastle would be priced out of making a move for the talented defensive midfielder. However, if they had the money and means to make it happen €“ I think he€™s exactly the sort of player that they would go after. Newcastle could certainly do with the sort of general with this kind of passing ability, as well as ability to win tackles at opportune moments in games. This season, Imbula has an incredible passing accuracy of 89%, and plays 39.3 passes per game on average. The player also on average wins two tackles per match, which isn€™t the best record in the league but they are vital contributions. Going forward Imbula doesn€™t offer a great deal as he isn€™t going to score many goals or even create them €“ but that can largely be put down to the position that he plays in. However, the player€™s dribbling is notable with 1.7 per match €“ which is certainly a high stat for a defensive midfielder. Imbula is just 21 years old and one of the hottest properties in French football right now; he hasn€™t yet made his debut for France but with his ability plenty of caps should soon follow. I think in general this would be the sort of signing that would really make people sit up and realize that Newcastle mean serious business. Can Newcastle finish in the top six? Who do they need to sign to make it happen? Let us know in the comment section, below.
