Predicting England's 23-Man World Cup Squad

Strikers

Manchester United ace Wayne Rooney is fit for the World Cup, which is a real relief. The 28-year-old may not have been at his best this season but he is simply one of the best strikers England have. United colleague Danny Welbeck has also struggled this term, with just nine goals to his name, but his energy levels, work-rate and strength mean he will be on the plane to Rio. Another obvious selection is Liverpool's 21-goal hero Daniel Sturridge, who has been scoring goals for fun all season and has fired his club to within touching distance of the Premier League title. He hasn't quite been able to match that form on the international stage but he is a real danger and carries a constant threat. Missing Out? Jermain Defoe may have made the final 23-man squad had he not quit Tottenham for the lesser MLS, while Andy Carroll has played just 13 league games for West Ham this season due to injury. Gabby Agbonlahor and Rickie Lambert may also stay at home, having done little to earn their place at the finals. Here's our predicted final 23-man England squad in full below. Disagree? Predicted Final 23-Man Squad; Hart, Forster, Butland; Baines, Cahill, Jagielka, Johnson, Jones, Lescott, Shaw, Walker; Barkley, Gerrard, Henderson, Sterling, Lallana, Lampard, Milner, Chamberlain, Wilshere; Rooney, Welbeck, Sturridge
