Premier League: 10 Biggest Transfer Window Mistakes
10. Palace Sign Ince (But Only On-Loan)
On paper this is a great deal for Crystal Palace - they get one of England's brightest young talents to help them avoid relegation and give him a crack in the top flight, and possibly the opportunity to build up some affinity with the club ahead of a potential summer permanent move on a free. However, when you look into it things aren't as great as they seem. Tom Ince is using the club as a stepping stone and he's made it blindly obvious: in the summer he will be a free agent and he will be able to choose between a number of clubs to sign for - even Liverpool are said to be monitoring the situation. Fair play to him, he's landed the jackpot and he's on to a winner. Palace, however, aren't. Ince (and the large number of singings Tony Pulis inevitably brought in with him) may not be able to save them from the drop and frankly, why would he care? Come August he'll still be in the Premier League no matter what happens during this loan spell, meaning he doesn't really have to put in loads of effort. He will want to impress other clubs but he'll be selfish, as he's playing for his own future rather than that of the club. If he's through on goal late on with the chance to score the winner do you think he'll shot himself, or lay it off to a teammate for an easy tap-in?
