West Ham Transfer News: Demba Ba Could Return On Loan?

London Evening Standard. Although the striker only joined the Blues from Newcastle United in January, it is likely that the Senegalese international will only be a bit-part player at Stamford Bridge next season now that the Europa League champions have signed Andre Schurlle from Bayer Leverkusen and new boss Jose Mourinho will look to bring in his own players. Romelu Lukaku is also expected to be given a run in the first team which will hinder Ba's opportunities even more. The 28-year old only managed 2 Premier League goals for Chelsea, though he did finish the season as Newcastle's joint-top scorer alongside Papiss Cisse, in spite of only featuring for the Magpies for the first five months of the campaign. Ba first began his Premier League career in 2011 when he joined West Ham from Hoffenheim. He was originally expected to sign for Stoke City instead but his move to the Britannia Stadium fell through when he failed his medical. His stay at Upton Park was short-lived and he joined Newcastle later that year. He scored 29 goals in 54 appearances for the Magpies before Chelsea activated his release clause in January this year. His most notable appearance in a Chelsea shirt was his sublime acrobatic winning goal against Manchester United during his side's 1-0 semi-final replay victory at Stamford Bridge.
