WWE WrestleMania 42: 20 Things That NEED To Happen
8. Trick Williams Triumphs In A Double Turn
One of the hottest possibilities heading into 'Mania 42 is the prospect of a Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin-style double turn between Sami Zayn and Trick Williams. Obviously, their story isn't on par with the 'Hitman' and 'Stone Cold' from 1997, but it's a slightly unfair comparison that exists only because that double switch at 13 remains one of WrestleMania's few twin turn moments.
Make it happen, WWE, and put that United States Title on Trick into the bargain. Like Oba Femi, he’s someone management can strap a rocket to for the rest of 2026, and the US strap is a neat thoroughfare to main events for Williams and his “lemon pepper steppers”. Live crowds are practically begging to cheer for him.
Truthfully, they've been doing that on SmackDown anyway, but watch those cheers turn into roars of approval once he's definitively babyface on TV. That's when people will see the best of Trick Willy. Come to think of it, the wrestling world may have forgotten just how impactful Sami can be as a villain too.
Remember his conspiracy theorist stuff and all of the goodness during his early days as an honorary member of The Bloodline? That was so effective that it turned him baby again in the first place.
The simplest way to get to this double turn is to have Zayn try to cheat but get caught out several times. Conversely, Williams would be playing everything fair and square because he believes he's physically gifted enough to rely on skills rather than shortcuts.
