10 Reasons Why Man City Fans Are Jealous Of Man United
1. The European Nights
The Uefa Champions League has been the competition in which to witness some of the greatest nights in United's history. The 3-2 victory over Juventus in '99, the 2-1 win over Bayern Munich, that night in Moscow against Chelsea and the 7-1 thrashing of AS Roma to list just a few.
Manchester City's foray in to Europe hasn't exactly gone to plan. Since the inception of the Champions League, the best they have managed is the round of 16. They still have some time to go before they can truly compete with the giants of European football. Barcelona asserted their superiority with devastating effect last season, winning 4-1 on aggregate to knock City out with not so much as a whimper.
The rasping voice of Clive Tyldesley still echoes around my head as Ole Gunnar Solksjaer stuck out his leg in 1999. As a 9 year old boy in my Manchester United dressing gown crying my eyes out at the thought of having to face my friends in the playground the next day, those tears of despair turned to tears of joy.
The crying hasn't stopped by the way.
That's all part and part parcel of being a fan of the greatest club in Manchester. Sorry City, you're going to have to put up with that large red shadow a little while longer.
