Chelsea Transfers: Roman Abramovich's Signings Worst XI

Striker: Andriy Shevchenko

There was much excitement over one of the best goal scorers European football plying his trade in the Premier League. However it didn't work out as many had hoped, his £30 million fee was never repaid as in his time at Chelsea he only managed to score 9 league goals in 49 league appearances. A real disappointment considering his goal ratio was better than one goal ever two league games during his first spell in Milan. The Ukrainian failed to settle in England, even though he was given plenty of opportunities by Mourinho to fulfil his price tag. There is no doubt over Shevchenko's place in this team as he failed live up to the fee and got no where near the goal scoring record that he showed in Italy. He will want to forget his time in England, he since has switched football for politics in his native Ukraine.

Striker: Fernando Torres

For some reason I found it hard to place the Spanish forward in this team. Though he has been an undoubted flop since his £50 million move from Liverpool. It took him 14 matches to score his first goal for Chelsea and since he has failed to rediscover the goal record that made him so feared at Atlético Madrid and Liverpool. The reason I feel like he might not warrant his place is that he could still turn it around. His performance against Bayern Munich on Friday was very good showing real promise and grabbing himself a goal. Plus the arrival of Samuel Eto'o could give Torres the motivation to kick start his Chelsea career. Of course there have been plenty of false dawns for his Torres' Chelsea career, his hat trick against QPR, his goal against Barcelona at the Nou Camp and his goal in the Europa League final, to note a few. Whether we start to see an improvement will be a matter of time. However Torres' record isn't great and his transfer fee definitely hasn't been repaid, meaning Torres probably should be on this list.
