Newcastle 1-0 Fulham: 5 Key Things We Learned

1. Newcastle Are Up For The Derby

A last minute winner is fantastic, but more so was the reaction. A goal against Fulham and everyone was in the crowd, the fans were going crazy, the players were going crazy and so was Pardew. With a week till the derby this is exactly what Newcastle fans wanted to see. If that was the reaction for a winner against Fulham, imagine the reaction for a winner against Sunderland. This is the biggest derby in years, a win for Newcastle could see them almost safe, eight points clear of the drop. The players and manager are all clearly dedicated to staying up and to the club. This wasn€™t just about them, it was about the fans. Nothing is more about the fans than derby day and if the players are that dedicated to the fans, they must be truly up for next weekend. With Paolo getting Sunderland fired up, Pardew and co will have to be fired up not just for Sunderland as a derby but also as a huge survival match. With them all looking very up for it, next Sunday could be even fiercer, more passionate and more important than usual, with a lot more than local bragging rights on the line.
