Newcastle Transfers: 3 Things The Magpies Need (And 1 They Definitely Don't)

cabaye I don't know how much louder that can be said in print. Every time I see NUFC linked with a random midfielder, it outrages me. We have too many good midfielders already, and unless we are interested in the likes of Silva, Nasri, Messi, etc. I don't want to hear about it. Many people want to see players such as Gutierrez and Marveaux shipped out, but I completely disagree. Yes, Jonas had a pretty bad season and his end-product has never been good, but getting rid of Jonas and Marveaux would be a mistake. They are loyal, hard-working players who keep their heads down and get on with the job at hand, and they are great squad members at the very least. So keep them. With any combo of the two strikers listed above, we're probably playing a 4-4-2. Or maybe it's a 4-3-1-2, or a 4-3-3. With our current midfield options, I don't like a 4-3-3 at all. Whichever system we use, we have more starters than places in the starting lineup. And that's without Marveaux and Jonas. We also have Bigi and Anita on the bench - who both looked pretty good in the limited minutes that they had. Let's not forget that we also have some youngsters (Vuckic, Inman, and even Fergie) who are knocking on the door. If we play 4 across the middle, I like: Sissoko - Tiote - Cabaye - Ben Arfa Those four, on their day, are as good as any in the Premier League. Boom. I said it. If we get rid of that ugly long-ball trash that Pardew suddenly decided he wanted to play last season, then these four will stay motivated and boss the game. If we play a 4-3-1-2, then I like Ben Arfa just behind the strikers, and Sissoko, Tiote, and Cabaye behind him. Bar some sort of horrid slew of injuries like we had last season, we have more than enough bodies to fill out our midfield. So I repeat, we do not need any more midfielders. So there you have it, Joe. Have a chat with your mates Alan and Graham and hop to it. We'll all be waiting and watching with our arms crossed. Oh, and don't worry, we'll let you know how it goes.
