1. Demba Ba - Free Transfer From West Ham United
Of course you've probably already guessed by now, but there can be few other candidates when it comes to rating Alan Pardew's No.1 signing. Demba Ba was a powerhouse during his time on Tyneside following his arrival from West Ham United, and was a consistent source of goals for the North East club in each of his one-and-a-half seasons at St James' Park. Ba scored 16 times in 34 Premier League appearances in his debut season and also netted 13 times in 20 appearances between August and January 2012, form which eventually saw him join Chelsea in the winter window. And despite playing only half-a-season for the Magpies in the last campaign, he still managed to finish as their joint-top scorer with Papiss Cisse, which tells you how vital he was to the side. So much so,
Pardew tried to re-sign him in the summer window.
