Newcastle's Potential Starting XI If Magpies Are Relegated

1. Adam Armstrong

Adam Armstrong is possibly the only natural goalscorer we have on our books this season - it's just a shame he's been banging in the goals for another club! Maybe he wouldn't have had quite the same success as he has at Coventry if he stayed on Tyneside - he has netted 19 times so far in League One - but Armstrong could definitely blossom if his boyhood club were relegated. A lot of talk in the pub earlier in the season revolved around whether the diminutive forward should be recalled to the Newcastle squad or loaned to a Championship club and he would clearly be the majority of fans' choice to lead the line if we were to drop a division. With Aleksandar Mitrovic being labelled as one of Europe's hottest prospects before his arrival on Tyneside, he is likely to attract attention from Europe's big guns, even after a hit-and-miss season, so dropping a division would almost certainly signal the Serbian's departure. Also, the sale of Papiss Cisse has been a main talking point over the last few transfer windows, so no matter what division the club are in next season, the Senegalese striker's time in the North East could be coming to an end, paving the way for Armstrong's selection.
